IED Attack on Balochistan Constabulary Bus in Mastung Leaves 3 Dead, 18 Injured

Mastung: At least three personnel of the Balochistan Constabulary were killed and 18 others injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack on their bus along Dasht Road in Mastung district on Monday, officials confirmed.

According to reports, the explosion occurred near Kund Masuri on Dasht Road and was carried out using a remote-controlled bomb planted on a motorcycle. The Balochistan Constabulary personnel were returning from duty when the blast took place.

Law enforcement officials arrived at the scene shortly after the attack. The deceased and injured were shifted to nearby hospitals, with critically wounded personnel being transported to Quetta for advanced medical treatment.

DSP Mastung Younis Magsi said the incident happened within the jurisdiction of the Kund Masuri Levies area. Due to an ongoing protest sit-in by the Balochistan National Party (BNP), police officers had been assigned to work alongside the Levies. “Over 40 personnel were returning to Police Lines Mastung after completing their daily duties when the bus was targeted,” he said.

Government spokesperson Shahid Rind confirmed that the bus was transporting personnel from the RTC Qalat when it was targeted by the IED, leading to the martyrdom of three personnel and injuries to at least 16 others. He added that emergency was declared at Bolan Medical College Hospital and Civil Hospital Quetta.

Two of the injured are reported to be in critical condition. Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti strongly condemned the attack, directing health officials to ensure the best possible care for the injured. He emphasized that the perpetrators of this cowardly act will not be spared and that the provincial government stands firmly with the families of the martyrs.

An investigation has been ordered into the incident, with a detailed report expected soon. The Balochistan Constabulary operates under the provincial police and has been actively engaged in maintaining security across the region.
