Jeddah: In celebration of the holy month of Ramadan, the Consulate General of India in Jeddah hosted a heartwarming Iftar reception on 13 March 2025 at the Consulate premises. The event gathered esteemed guests, including representatives from the Saudi government, the diplomatic community, the Indian diaspora, and leaders from business, media, and cultural sectors.
The evening commenced with opening remarks by His Excellency Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan, Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He reflected on the significance of Ramadan, emphasizing values of compassion, reflection, and service. The Ambassador also highlighted the strong bond between India and Saudi Arabia, particularly in trade, cultural exchange, and sustainable development.
Consul General Mr. Fahad Ahmed Khan Suri spoke on the evening’s theme, “Organic Iftar,” showcasing the Consulate’s commitment to sustainability and the growing importance of organic farming in India and globally. He noted that the menu, featuring organic ingredients, symbolized a commitment to health, wellness, and environmental protection for future generations.
The Consul General expressed gratitude to the Agricultural and Processed Foods Products Exports Development Authority (APEDA), Government of India, for supplying organic ingredients. He also extended thanks to local partners, including the Lulu Group and Siafa Dates, for their collaboration in making the event a success.
Guests enjoyed a delectable spread of organic delicacies that highlighted the rich flavors of India while promoting sustainability. The evening concluded in an atmosphere of warmth and unity, reflecting the true spirit of Ramadan.
