Imran Khan Refuses to Sign Deal Despite Pressure, Says Sister Aleema Khan

ISLAMABAD: Aleema Khan, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, has asserted that her brother will not enter into any agreement with the government, despite persistent pressure.

Speaking to reporters outside Adiala Jail on Tuesday, where the former prime minister is currently imprisoned, Aleema Khan accused the authorities of employing various tactics to compel him into signing a deal. However, she maintained that Imran Khan remains steadfast and will not compromise.

She further stated that her brother is in good health and dismissed social media speculation regarding his medical condition as false. This contradicts the findings of a team of doctors from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), led by ENT specialist Dr. Altaf Hussain, who examined Imran Khan on Monday and reported that he was experiencing ear pain.

Aleema Khan denied reports suggesting that Imran Khan was suffering from a brain infection, emphasizing that "Allah is protecting him." She also criticized the restrictions placed on her brother in prison, stating that he has been unable to communicate with his personal doctor and family members, including his children. PTI lawyers, led by Salman Akram Raja, are planning to file a petition to address this issue.

Regarding the Al-Qadir Trust case, she mentioned that a verdict on PTI’s appeal could be announced within a week but hinted at efforts by certain individuals to delay the decision, without naming anyone.

Commenting on a recent controversy in the cricket world, Aleema Khan revealed that Imran Khan is opposed to the renaming of Peshawar’s Arbab Niaz Stadium. The PTI-led government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had reportedly proposed renaming the venue in recognition of the former captain’s contributions to Pakistan’s sports legacy.

Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Omar Ayub Khan, criticized the government’s performance, stating that it has failed across all sectors.

He rejected the government’s claims of economic progress, arguing that large-scale manufacturing has declined under the PML-N-led administration. He further alleged that electricity and gas prices have surged significantly, with electricity tariffs rising from Rs17 per unit during PTI’s tenure to Rs85, and gas prices witnessing a 400% hike.

Ayub also accused the government of manipulating inflation data, adding that foreign investment in Pakistan has dried up, while security concerns have escalated. “The government is unwilling to tell the truth,” he remarked.
