Imran Khan to Lead Protest Movement from Jail, Says PTI Statement

Islamabad: A statement issued from the official X (formerly Twitter) account of former Prime Minister Imran Khan claims that he will lead a new protest movement from behind bars, inviting Baloch nationalist leader Maharang Baloch to join the cause.

According to the message, purportedly from Adiala Jail, Imran Khan announced that he would spearhead the movement as chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), while Omar Ayub would represent him outside the prison. Legal expert Salman Akram Raja has been assigned the responsibility of ensuring implementation of Khan's directives.

The statement further indicated that a comprehensive plan for the protest will be unveiled to the public within a few days. PTI plans to include its allied parties in the movement, including the Tehreek Tahaffuz-e-Aaeen (Movement for the Protection of the Constitution), the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA), and Maharang Baloch.

A note of concern was raised in the statement regarding a potential ban on Imran Khan's meetings in prison. It also reiterated an earlier claim that Khan was offered comfort and silence for three years if he agreed to remain inactive at his Bani Gala residence — a proposal he reportedly rejected.

The statement concluded with a rallying message to PTI members: “Until now, the party was handed to everyone fully built. Now is a time of difficulty — and a test for all.”
