IMSIU Launches Initiative to Enhance Arabic Skills for Global Scholars

RIYADH: Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University (IMSIU) has launched the "Sofara Al-Arabiya" (Ambassadors of Arabic) initiative, aimed at strengthening the Arabic language proficiency of international scholarship students.

The initiative seeks to equip students with the ability to use Arabic effectively in cultural and professional settings.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Ameri, IMSIU president, highlighted the initiative's role in reinforcing Arabic’s cultural identity and supporting the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

“This initiative aligns with the university’s commitment to showcasing the status of Arabic globally,” Al-Ameri said. “We aim to integrate interdisciplinary academic disciplines to serve the language and offer linguistic services to both government and private sectors, enhancing cultural and institutional communication.”

Dr. Abdullah Al-Asmari, IMSIU’s vice rector for education affairs, emphasized that investing in Arabic education is a cultural responsibility that requires continuous adaptation.

“The initiative supports Vision 2030’s goal of enhancing Arabic’s status as a key part of national and cultural identity,” he stated.

Dr. Khaled Al-Khara’n, dean of IMSIU’s College of Arabic Language, explained that the program targets scholarship students from diverse backgrounds, aiming to promote Arabic as a dynamic and expressive language of Arab culture.

“It includes enrichment programs designed to develop students’ linguistic and creative skills, such as creative writing, poetry publishing, and participation in cultural events at national and international levels,” he said.

Mohammed Al-Ammar, director of the initiative, noted that the program prepares students to communicate effectively in Arabic on a global scale.

“IMSIU is dedicated to expanding the academic and cultural influence of the Arabic language, reinforcing its role in representing national identity,” Al-Ammar said.

He added that the initiative aims to build strong connections with scholarship graduates, ensuring the Arabic language continues to thrive in their home countries.

“Through these efforts, IMSIU contributes to positioning Arabic as a global language with a lasting presence on the international cultural scene,” he said.
