New Delhi: In a recent exchange of Eid-ul-Adha greetings, Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus emphasized the enduring spirit of mutual respect and understanding between Bangladesh and India, expressing optimism for continued cooperation focused on the welfare of their peoples.
Yunus’s message came in response to a letter from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who extended warm Eid wishes to the people of Bangladesh and the interim chief adviser. Both letters were shared by Yunus in a post on social media platform X on Sunday.
In his reply dated June 6, Yunus described Modi’s message as “thoughtful,” adding that it reflected the shared values that underpin the relationship between the two neighboring nations. He expressed confidence that the mutual spirit of respect and understanding would continue to guide bilateral efforts for the common good.
Yunus also highlighted the significance of Eid-ul-Adha as a time of reflection and unity. “The festival brings communities together in a spirit of festivity, sacrifice, generosity, and harmony,” he wrote, noting its inspiration to work collectively for global wellbeing.
In his earlier letter, dated June 4, Prime Minister Modi described Eid-ul-Adha as an essential part of India’s diverse cultural fabric. He noted that the occasion serves as a reminder of universal values such as sacrifice, compassion, and brotherhood—principles he said are vital to building a peaceful and inclusive world.
