The much-anticipated 14-day special forces training exercise Cyclone-III is on in Bikaner, in the desert state of Rajasthan. The exercise aims to strengthen interoperability, tactics, and cooperation among the armed forces of both countries. This exercise has a primary focus on counter-terrorism operations, urban warfare, and mutual understanding in a complex battle environment. This also marks another turning point in the strengthening of defense ties between India and Egypt with a view toward aspiring for regional security.
The joint special forces exercise has intensive training modules for both the special forces to develop their operational capability and response under high-stress environments. It includes both counter-terrorism and hostage rescue, along with information sharing. The second aspect the forces of India and Egypt are working on is communication and coordination, which will be an important aspect of conducting future joint missions related to peacekeeping and crisis management.
Cyclone-III is a meaningful step toward the deepening defense engagement between India and Egypt, signifying their commitment to a shared security and fight against global terrorism. They will also brainstorm and sharpen skills with which to drive their fighting effectiveness further in the field. The ongoing exercise is expected to further cement defense ties between both nations, with each gaining very useful lessons regarding modern combat from the other.
