Dubai: India secured a historic third ICC Champions Trophy title by defeating New Zealand in the CT 2025 final in Dubai on Sunday.
Previously winning in 2002 (shared with Sri Lanka) and 2013, India reached their third consecutive final with an unbeaten run from the group stage.
India secured a thrilling four-wicket victory over New Zealand in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final, held on March 9 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Chasing a target of 251/7, India reached 254/6 in 48.1 overs, marking their third consecutive Champions Trophy triumph.
Batting first after winning the toss, New Zealand posted 251 runs, with key contributions from Kane Williamson and Daryl Mitchell. However, India’s bowling attack, led by Mohammed Shami and Kuldeep Yadav, restricted their scoring with vital breakthroughs.
Despite early setbacks, India’s chase was steadied by Virat Kohli’s vital 84 and Shubman Gill’s composed innings. Hardik Pandya’s late onslaught sealed the victory with 11 balls to spare, reaffirming India’s dominance in international cricket.
A packed stadium witnessed the high-intensity final, celebrating India’s continued success in ICC tournaments and their growing legacy in world cricket.
