JEDDAH: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the growing strategic partnership between India and Saudi Arabia as he arrived in Jeddah for a two-day official visit, his third to the Kingdom since 2016.
According to the report, Modi described Saudi Arabia as “a trusted friend and strategic ally,” noting significant progress in bilateral relations since the establishment of the Strategic Partnership Council in 2019.
“Our partnership has limitless potential,” Modi said. “In a world full of uncertainties, our bond stands strong, as a pillar of stability.”
He also lauded Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman for his visionary leadership and the global recognition of reforms under Vision 2030.
Modi highlighted expanding economic ties, particularly in energy, agriculture, and fertilizers, and called for deeper collaboration in emerging sectors such as green hydrogen and technology.
He noted the strong presence of Indian companies across various industries in the Kingdom.
He congratulated Saudi Arabia on winning the bids to host the World Expo 2030 and the FIFA World Cup 2034, calling the achievements “a matter of immense pride.”
He also emphasized the strengthening of defense cooperation through joint military exercises and strategic dialogue.
Speaking on the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEEC), launched at the G20 Summit in 2023, Modi described it as “a key catalyst of commerce, connectivity, and growth in the entire region.”
The Indian government said in a statement that Modi’s visit “reflects the importance India attaches to its bilateral relationship with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”
