Gaza: Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz announced the military's expansion of its ground assault on Gaza, focusing on capturing large areas to add to the designated buffer zones.
This development comes as Israeli airstrikes continue across Gaza, causing significant casualties. Since early morning, at least 21 Palestinians have been killed, including a deadly strike on a house in Khan Younis that claimed the lives of 12 people.
The ongoing assault, part of Israel's military actions since breaking the ceasefire with Hamas on March 18, has already resulted in over 1,042 Palestinian deaths.
The war, which began in October 2023, has devastated Gaza, with more than 50,000 casualties reported, mostly among children, women, and the elderly. Amid these attacks, the families of Israeli captives have voiced concern, questioning whether territorial gains are prioritized over efforts to secure the release of hostages. Meanwhile, Israeli airstrikes continue to target various areas in Gaza, intensifying the conflict.
On a separate note, a new report revealed the extensive damage to Gaza's educational infrastructure, with 95% of the schools suffering direct hits, including over 80 schools completely destroyed. International organizations have condemned the use of schools for military purposes by Israeli forces.
