Gaza: An early morning Israeli airstrike on Khan Younis has killed Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Ahmed al-Darbashi, the director of the West Khan Younis police station, according to Gaza’s General Directorate of Police.
In a statement, the police condemned the targeting of its personnel, stating that despite such losses, they remain committed to protecting civilians.
They accused Israel of attempting to "spread chaos" in Gaza and called on the international community to intervene and halt attacks on police forces, stressing that police are considered civil defence personnel under international law.
This strike adds to growing concerns about the targeting of civil infrastructure and personnel in Gaza.
