Israeli Airstrike on Kuwaiti Field Hospital in Gaza

Gaza: An Israeli airstrike struck the northern gate of the Kuwaiti Field Hospital in the Gaza Strip, killing a medic and wounding nine people, as reported on April 15, 2025, by The Associated Press.

The attack occurred during heightened tensions following a previous strike on Sunday that targeted the last major hospital offering critical care in northern Gaza, forcing an evacuation. This airstrike was confirmed by a hospital spokesperson and comes amid a continuous series of Israeli air operations targeting facilities and infrastructure in the region.

During the same period, political developments added to the complexity of the situation as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated his opposition to Palestinian statehood in a phone call with French President Emmanuel Macron, who had recently indicated that France is considering recognizing a Palestinian state later this year.

The current conflict has deep roots dating back to October 7, 2023, when the Palestinian militant group Hamas launched a major attack on southern Israel, killing approximately 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and abducting 251 individuals. The ensuing retaliatory offensive by Israel has resulted in a reported death toll of over 51,000 in Gaza, according to figures provided by Gaza’s Health Ministry.

Additional details highlight the broader regional impact; in Lebanon, Israeli strikes have killed at least 71 civilians, including women and children, since the implementation of a ceasefire on November 27, 2024, with the United Nations citing damage to civilian infrastructure such as residential buildings and medical facilities. While Lebanon has reported some retaliatory launches at Israel, these have not resulted in any reported casualties.

This airstrike on the Kuwaiti Field Hospital and the ongoing series of military actions underscore the continuing and rapidly evolving nature of the conflict, with both sides engaged in operations that affect not only military targets but also critical civilian and humanitarian infrastructure.
