Islamabad: The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has once again summoned 16 key leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) over their alleged involvement in negative propaganda.
Summons have been issued to several PTI figures, including Syed Firdous Shamim Naqvi, Muhammad Khalid Khurshid Khan, Mian Muhammad Aslam Iqbal, and Muhammad Hammad Azhar. Others on the list include Aun Abbas, Muhammad Shehbaz Shabbir, Waqas Akram, and Taimur Saleem Khan, along with Sibghatullah Warraich, Azhar Mashwani, Muhammad Noman Afzal, Jibran Ilyas, Salman Raza, Zulfi Bukhari, Moosa Warraich, and Ali Malik.
Previously, senior PTI leaders Barrister Gohar, Rauf Hassan, and Shah Farman have already appeared before the JIT.
Meanwhile, PTI founder’s sister, Aleema Khan, failed to appear before the JIT on March 14, 2025, despite being summoned. Consequently, she has now been issued another notice to appear on March 19, 2025.
The JIT is conducting investigations against these individuals over allegations of state-opposing propaganda. It has been established under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016, Section 30, and is headed by the Inspector General of Islamabad Police. According to the authorities, the JIT has credible evidence regarding the case.
The summons also serve as a warning for the accused individuals to clarify their stance on the matter.
