New Delhi, April 26, 2025 — The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) today announced the launch of the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra 2025, inviting applications from pilgrims eager to undertake the revered journey to Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar, located in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China. The yatra, set to take place between June and August 2025, will facilitate travel via two key routes through Uttarakhand and Sikkim.
This year, five batches of 50 yatris each will cross into China via the Lipulekh Pass in Uttarakhand, while ten batches of 50 yatris each will proceed through the Nathu La Pass in Sikkim. The MEA has emphasized that all travel arrangements are subject to necessary clearances and coordination with Chinese authorities, whose cooperation is vital for the smooth conduct of the pilgrimage.
Applicants can submit their applications online at kmy.gov.in, where the selection process is carried out through a fully computerized, random, and gender-balanced system. Since 2015, the entire procedure—from application to selection—has been digitized, eliminating the need for physical correspondence. Pilgrims are encouraged to use the website’s feedback tools for queries, observations, or suggestions.
The Kailash Manasarovar Yatra represents not only a spiritual endeavor but also a significant aspect of India-China people-to-people exchanges. The MEA continues to work closely with Chinese counterparts to ensure that all necessary logistics, visa arrangements, and safety measures are in place for a safe and fulfilling pilgrimage experience.
With preparations underway, the 2025 Yatra promises to uphold the deep spiritual traditions associated with Mount Kailash while navigating the complex but cooperative cross-border dynamics between India and China.
