NEW DELHI: On Tuesday, India and Qatar exchanged an agreement concerning the establishment of a strategic partnership between the two countries. These documents were exchanged in front of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani here. The Amir of Qatar arrived Monday evening as part of a two-day state visit. The MEA had stated earlier that the visit would give "further momentum to our growing multifaceted partnership".
At the Hyderabad House, Prime Minister Modi and the Amir of Qatar also held talks over a range of issues concerning bilateral relations. The agreement was exchanged between Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani and the External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.
An amended agreement between India and Qatar for the avoidance of double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income was also exchanged, according to the announcements made during the ceremony at Hyderabad House. The agreement was exchanged between the Prime Minister of Qatar and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
