TABUK: Red Sea Global has announced the launch of Laheq Island, Saudi Arabia’s premier private residential island offering a luxurious lifestyle.
This marks the first residential project from Red Sea Global (RSG) following the successful completion of phase one, which saw the opening of five resorts in 2023.
Construction is currently underway to add another 11 resorts on Shura Island, as reported.
Laheq Island will be linked to other parts of Saudi Arabia and the world through the Red Sea International Airport.
Set to open in 2028, Laheq will be the first project within the destination focused on residential ownership, complemented by top-tier hospitality services and facilities.
The island is part of a pristine archipelago of 92 islands along Saudi Arabia’s western coast, surrounded by one of the world’s largest barrier reefs, home to over 2,000 rare marine species.
Spanning 400 hectares, the island will feature a wide range of recreational activities and amenities for residents and visitors alike.
RSG, owned by the Kingdom's Public Investment Fund, has committed to planting 50 million mangrove trees and enhancing their habitats, alongside efforts to regenerate coral reefs and marine ecosystems.
The Red Sea destination is set to become the world’s largest tourism attraction, with all its facilities and resorts powered entirely by renewable energy.
Phase one’s 16 resorts are expected to be operational this year, and by 2030, the area will boast 50 resorts with 8,000 hotel rooms and more than 1,000 residential units across 22 islands and six inland locations.
