Lebanon Army Munitions Blast Kills 3 Soldiers in South

Beirut: On Sunday, April 20, 2025, Lebanon's military reported a deadly munitions blast in the south of the country, which resulted in the deaths of an army officer and two soldiers.

The explosion occurred while ammunition was being transported in an army vehicle in the village of Braiqaa, located in the Nabatiyeh district, approximately 20 kilometers from the Israeli border. Several vehicles were damaged, and some nearby shops and flats also suffered from the blast.

The area was immediately cordoned off by the Lebanese army as specialized units began investigating the cause of the incident.

This tragedy came just days after another explosion in the same region that claimed the life of a soldier and injured three others.

The Lebanese military has been conducting operations in the south following a truce deal that ended the war between Israel and Hezbollah, dismantling Hezbollah's infrastructure in the area as part of the ceasefire agreement. President Joseph Aoun expressed condolences for the fallen servicemen, acknowledging their sacrifice in maintaining security and stability in the region.
