Macron Warns France May Harden Stance on Israel Over Gaza Aid Blockade

Paris: French President Emmanuel Macron has warned that France may toughen its position on Israel if humanitarian aid to Gaza continues to be obstructed, calling the situation on the ground “untenable.”

In remarks delivered during a press briefing, Macron stated that if no immediate action is taken to alleviate the worsening humanitarian crisis, France would be forced to consider stronger measures, including potential sanctions against Israeli settlers.

Macron emphasized the urgency of the moment, stressing that the international community cannot stand by while aid convoys are blocked and civilians in Gaza suffer from starvation and lack of medical access. He noted that the current conditions demand a rapid and concrete humanitarian response, and called on the Israeli government to change its approach before European nations are compelled to escalate diplomatic pressure.

“We will have to toughen our collective position,” Macron said, underlining that the issue is no longer just a regional conflict but a global humanitarian emergency. While expressing hope for a change in Israeli policy, Macron’s statement reflects growing frustration among European allies over Israel's handling of aid access during its ongoing war on Gaza.

France’s stance adds to mounting international calls urging Israel to allow unrestricted humanitarian assistance into Gaza, where over two million Palestinians are facing catastrophic shortages of food, water, and medicine amid relentless military operations since October 2023.
