Riyadh: The Saudi Ministry of Interior announced on Sunday that since its launch, the Makkah Route Initiative has served over one million pilgrims, underscoring the Kingdom’s dedication to facilitating a seamless pilgrimage experience.
Led by multilingual national teams and supported by advanced technologies, the program guarantees a smooth, efficient, and spiritually fulfilling journey for all pilgrims, reflecting Saudi Arabia’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the Hajj experience.
As part of the Pilgrim Experience Program aligned with Saudi Vision 2030, the initiative streamlines pre-travel procedures at 11 airports in seven countries-Malaysia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Morocco, Türkiye, and Côte d'Ivoire-by managing biometric data collection, electronic Hajj visa issuance, and passport processing while ensuring health protocol compliance.
Now in its seventh year, this initiative operates through close coordination among multiple government bodies, including the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Health, Hajj and Umrah, and Media, alongside the Saudi Data and AI Authority, Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, General Authority for Awqaf, Pilgrim Experience Program, and General Directorate of Passports.
