Lisandro Martinez, a defender for Manchester United, is projected to miss the rest of the season due to a cruciate ligament injury. The injury happened on Sunday during the team's 2-0 loss to Crystal Palace.
Lisandro Martinez sustained a cruciate ligament injury during Sunday's match against Crystal Palace, Manchester United confirmed Thursday. The organization added that "Assessment of the injury is ongoing to determine the appropriate course of treatment and the timescale for his rehabilitation" . They also stated, "Everyone at Manchester United wishes Lisandro Martinez strength for a successful recovery and we will be supporting him every step of the way"
Martinez's value to the team, both as a player and as a person, was recognized by manager Ruben Amorim, especially during this trying time. Manchester United, currently in 13th place in the Premier League, has suffered a serious setback as a result of Martinez's absence. Luke Shaw's fitness has also come under scrutiny again; he hasn't started a United game in almost a year.
After sustaining collateral ligament damage against West Ham a year prior, this is Martinez's second major knee injury while playing for Manchester United. A cruciate ligament damage usually requires at least six months to heal.
