Mullah Baradar Returns from Tatarstan, Hails Successful Economic Visit

Kabul: Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of Afghanistan, has returned to Kabul after concluding a four-day official visit to the Republic of Tatarstan.

Addressing journalists at Kabul International Airport, Baradar described the trip as highly fruitful and emphasized the positive outcomes of several high-level meetings and signed agreements.

During his visit, Baradar held important discussions with Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of Tatarstan, and Artyom Zdunov, the President of Mordovia, focusing on political cooperation and enhancing trade and economic ties.

He also met with two Deputy Prime Ministers of the Russian Federation, where talks centered on deepening economic cooperation between Afghanistan and Russia. Key points included increasing bilateral trade, attracting Russian investment into Afghanistan, and strengthening overall economic relations.

A significant highlight of the visit was the inauguration of the Afghanistan–Russia Business Forum, which Baradar officially opened. The event also saw the signing of five key memoranda of understanding between Afghan and Russian representatives. These agreements aim to boost collaboration in transport, trade, transit, and private sector partnerships.

Officials say the visit marks a new chapter in Afghanistan-Russia economic engagement, as Kabul seeks broader international cooperation to revitalize its economy.
