National Ambulance Launches ‘Safe Summer… Be Prepared’ Safety Campaign

Abu Dhabi: National Ambulance has launched its annual “Safe Summer… Be Prepared” campaign to raise public awareness about essential safety and prevention measures during the summer months. The initiative encourages the community to enjoy the season safely and responsibly.

The campaign highlights National Ambulance’s commitment to promoting emergency readiness and public preparedness. 

Through informative videos and social media posts, it offers practical tips on how to respond effectively to summer-related emergencies until professional help arrives, enhancing overall public safety.

This year’s campaign covers key topics such as heatstroke prevention, hydration, sun protection, safe exercise in hot weather, and beach and pool safety. It emphasizes supervising children near water, following water sports safety rules, and knowing how to treat jellyfish stings.

Summer Safety Tips include Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and avoid prolonged sun exposure, Use sunscreen, wear sunglasses and hats to protect against UV rays, Limit outdoor activities between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

When temperatures peak, exercise indoors or in shaded areas; schedule outdoor workouts during cooler times, Never leave children unattended in vehicles, where temperatures can rise dangerously fast and In medical emergencies, call 998 immediately for specialized ambulance assistance.

Beach and Pool Safety include, Follow safety instructions at swimming areas and only swim in licensed zones with lifeguards, Parents and caregivers must supervise children near water and ensure use of life jackets.

Additionally, use appropriate safety gear during water sports to reduce risks, Be cautious of jellyfish; rinse stings with seawater or vinegar and seek medical help if needed and Do not jump in to rescue someone; alert lifeguards and call emergency numbers (999 Police, 997 Civil Defense, 996 Coast Guard, or 998 Ambulance). Assist by throwing a life ring or using a long object to pull the person to safety.

The “Safe Summer… Be Prepared” campaign is part of National Ambulance’s continuous efforts to foster prevention, education, and preparedness in the community.
