Washington: A new round of negotiations on the Ukraine conflict will take place in Saudi Arabia on Sunday, according to U.S. officials.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has not agreed to U.S. President Donald Trump's proposal for a 30-day complete ceasefire, but both leaders have agreed to continue discussions.
President Trump’s special envoy for the Middle East, Steve Whitcoff told that the next round of talks would be held in Saudi Arabia. He stated that Secretary of State Marco Rubio and National Security Advisor Mike Waltz would lead the U.S. delegation. However, he did not clarify whether the negotiations would be directly with Russia or Ukraine.
The talks come just hours after both Russia and Ukraine launched airstrikes on each other's infrastructure following a phone conversation between the U.S. and Russian presidents.
