RIYADH: At the 7th Global Occupational Safety and Health Conference in Riyadh, it was announced that the number of Saudis in occupational safety and health professions surged by 130%, reaching over 29,000.

The private sector's compliance rate with safety standards has also risen to 90%, with national plans aiming for 72% compliance by the end of 2024.

In parallel, Saudi Arabia's aviation sector is on track to serve 300 million passengers annually by 2030, aiming to reach 250 international destinations as part of a strategy to make the Kingdom a global logistics hub. The sector has already created 270,000 jobs.

During his address, Abdulaziz Al-Duailej, president of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), highlighted the role of smart technologies and digital transformation in supporting occupational safety within airports and aviation facilities.

He emphasized their importance in the rapid expansion of the sector.

Al-Duailej outlined initiatives to improve work environments at airports, including the use of smart monitoring systems, real-time surveillance, predictive analytics, VR and AR training, and smart positioning systems to track vehicles and equipment.
