The Quba Mosque, the first mosque built in Islam, has hosted more than 19 million worshipers since the beginning of the year, according to official Saudi figures. Located in Medina, the mosque was originally constructed by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in the 7th century upon his arrival from Mecca—a journey known as the Hijra.

Largest Expansion in History

The mosque is undergoing its most extensive expansion to date, initiated in 2022 under the King Salman Project. Once completed, the expansion will increase the mosque's capacity to 66,000 worshipers, with a total area of 50,000 square meters—10 times its original size.

Enhanced Facilities for Worshipers

The development includes well-prepared courtyards and round-the-clock transportation services, ensuring a seamless experience for visitors. This expansion reflects the Saudi leadership's commitment to preserving and enhancing historical Islamic landmarks while accommodating the growing number of pilgrims.

The Quba Mosque remains a cornerstone of Islamic history and spirituality, attracting millions of Muslims each year who seek to connect with its profound heritage.
