Pakistan Accuses India of Regional Destabilization and Aggression

Islamabad: Pakistan has strongly condemned India's recent military aggression, warning that it has brought the two nuclear-armed neighbors to the brink of war.

Speaking at a weekly press briefing, Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan criticized India’s actions following the Pahalgam incident, asserting that Pakistan had no involvement in the April 22 attack that claimed the lives of tourists.

“India’s war hysteria is alarming and should concern the international community,” Khan stated. “Despite global appeals to de-escalate, India has continued its provocative actions, violating international laws and regional stability.”

According to the spokesperson, since May 7, India has launched a series of aggressive actions targeting various Pakistani regions, including drone strikes on civilian areas. He questioned the legitimacy of launching attacks based on unverified social media claims. “No sovereign nation should accept such reckless behavior,” Khan said.

He reiterated Pakistan’s rejection of Indian accusations linking Islamabad to the Pahalgam attack, emphasizing the absence of credible evidence from New Delhi. Khan also referred to the arrest of serving Indian intelligence officer Kulbhushan Jadhav from Balochistan as a testament to India's covert destabilization efforts.

Responding to India's decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty, Khan condemned the move as a blatant violation of international agreements. “India cannot unilaterally withdraw from a treaty that impacts millions of lives. Pakistan is an agricultural country—this decision threatens food security for millions,” he warned.

Khan also accused Indian forces of deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure, including parts of the Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project, and highlighted the killing of 40 Pakistani citizens due to Hindu extremist violence.

In a forceful response to India’s May 6-7 nighttime assault on Pakistani cities, the Pakistan Armed Forces reportedly shot down five Indian fighter jets, including three Rafale aircraft, and destroyed multiple Indian military posts and a brigade headquarters.

The National Security Committee has since granted full authority to the military to respond to further aggression. Pakistan maintains it reserves the right to self-defense in accordance with the United Nations Charter.

Khan concluded by accusing Indian media of orchestrating a disinformation campaign designed to destabilize the region. “This was not spontaneous. It was a calculated attempt to provoke conflict and mislead the international community.”
