Indian Army Accuses Pakistan Of Attacks In Jammu And Punjab; Islamabad Firmly Denies The Allegation.

NEW DELHI: Tensions between India and Pakistan have intensified further after the Indian Army claimed that Pakistan launched missile and drone attacks on three of its military bases. According to the official statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the targeted locations include Udhampur in Jammu, a base in Indian-administered Kashmir, and Pathankot in Indian Punjab. The army clarified that all hostile drones and missiles were intercepted and neutralized without causing any casualties or major damage.

The Indian military described the attacks as part of an ongoing escalation following India’s own military operation allegedly targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan-administrated Kashmir. Security across the affected bases has been heightened, and air defence systems remain on high alert.

In response, Pakistan's Defence Minister Khawaja Asif denied any involvement, dismissing India’s claims as baseless. In an interview with BBC News journalist Azadeh Misheri, he stated, “I deny it, we did not carry out any such attack.” He added that if Pakistan were to launch an attack, “everyone would know about it,” implying transparency in any official military response.

The situation underscores the fragile state of relations between the two nuclear-armed neighbours. With both sides issuing conflicting statements, the risk of miscommunication and escalation remains high. Global observers have urged both nations to show restraint and open diplomatic channels to avoid a deeper crisis.

The next 48 hours may prove critical in determining whether the conflict escalates or sees a shift toward de-escalation.
