North Korea fired a missile on Monday during a high-profile visit by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to South Korea. Blinken warned that Pyongyang is deepening its collaboration with Russia on advanced space technology, a concerning development amid growing regional tensions.

This launch coincided with political turbulence in South Korea, where conservative President Yoon Suk Yeol faced efforts to arrest him after his impeachment over an attempt to impose martial law.

During a UN Security Council meeting convened two days after the launch, Pakistan’s Ambassador Munir Akram urged the international community to prioritize dialogue. “We strongly support the calls for revival of talks among the relevant parties,” Akram said, emphasizing the need for diplomacy to address the Korean Peninsula’s mounting challenges.

The situation underscores the escalating complexities in Northeast Asia, with implications for global security and geopolitical alignments.
