Pakistani PM Expresses Solidarity with Iran in Call with President Pezeshkian

Islamabad: Amid ongoing hostilities between Israel and Iran, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to express Pakistan's strong solidarity with the Iranian government and people.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Prime Minister Sharif strongly condemned the Israeli attacks on Iran, calling them “unprovoked and unjustified acts of aggression.” He stated that Pakistan stands “in full solidarity with the government and the brotherly people of Iran.”

“These attacks are a violation of Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and are in clear breach of the United Nations Charter and international law,” Sharif noted.

The Pakistani Prime Minister reaffirmed Iran’s right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter. Extending condolences over the loss of lives caused by the attacks, he recalled that Pakistan had expressed its support for Iran during an emergency session of the United Nations Security Council held a day earlier.

Sharif urged the international community and the United Nations to take immediate and credible action to end Israel’s aggressive posture and unlawful behavior. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to promoting peace in the region and affirmed its willingness to play a constructive role in this regard.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, President Pezeshkian thanked Prime Minister Sharif for Pakistan’s support, particularly during the UN Security Council session. He said that this gesture reflected the deep and brotherly ties between the two nations.

President Pezeshkian also briefed Prime Minister Sharif on Iran’s perspective regarding the ongoing crisis with Israel and called on the international community, especially the Muslim world, to act collectively in response to these threats.

Both leaders agreed to maintain close communication on the matter moving forward.
