Islamabad: The government has decided to convene a meeting of the Parliamentary National Security Committee in light of the rising incidents of terrorism in the country.
The closed-door session is expected to be held on Wednesday or Thursday, with Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, presiding over the meeting. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, top military leadership, and intelligence agency heads will also be in attendance.
For this session, the entire House will be converted into the National Security Committee. Senior military officials will brief the members on the increasing terrorist activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, while lawmakers will have the opportunity to ask questions.
The meeting will also review Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s proposal for the renewal of the National Action Plan. Key decisions regarding counterterrorism operations will be made based on the parliament’s recommendations, and the implementation of the National Action Plan will be assessed.
