Quetta: Balochistan authorities have imposed partial travel restrictions on four major national highways across four districts, limiting both public and private transport movement until further notice.
According to official notifications issued by respective district administrations, the restrictions will be enforced at specific hours to curb movement during the night.
In Gwadar district, vehicular movement on the coastal highway will be prohibited from 5 PM to 5 AM. Similarly, in Musa Khel district, travel on the highway connecting Quetta and Punjab will be restricted from 6 PM to 6 AM.
In Zhob district, restrictions will be applied to the Quetta-Dera Ismail Khan highway, barring travel from 6 PM to 6 AM. Likewise, in Kachhi district, the highway linking Quetta and Sindh will be off-limits to vehicles from 5 PM to 5 AM.
Sources indicate that the move comes in response to recent incidents of severe unrest and security concerns on certain highways.
It should be noted that since the final days of the year 2024, there has been an increase in attacks on major highways in Balochistan. In the first three months of this year, dozens of people, including both civilians and military personnel, have been killed in these attacks.
The attack on the Jaffer Express train heading to Balochistan on March 11 is also part of this series of incidents.
