New Delhi: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut has ignited a fresh political row by demanding the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, labeling the recently launched Operation Sindoor a complete failure. The operation was initiated following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam that reportedly claimed the lives of 26 civilians.
Addressing the media on Tuesday, Raut accused Shah of mishandling the operation and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take accountability by removing him from his post. “Operation Sindoor has not achieved its objectives. If Amit Shah has any sense of moral responsibility, he must resign. The Prime Minister should act,” Raut declared.
The opposition’s criticism comes amid the government’s diplomatic efforts to build international consensus against cross-border terrorism. Raut took aim at these initiatives too, arguing that sending all-party delegations abroad diverts attention from the failures at home.
The Congress and other members of the INDIA bloc have also intensified pressure on the government. They are pushing for a special parliamentary session to address both the Pahalgam tragedy and the aftermath of Operation Sindoor. Moreover, they are calling for an all-party meeting chaired by PM Modi to reassess national security policies and the government’s response mechanisms.
The government has yet to issue an official response to Raut’s accusations, but political observers expect the matter to dominate headlines and parliamentary discussions in the days ahead. With Operation Sindoor now under a cloud of criticism, questions are mounting about its planning, execution, and overall impact.
