PTI Demands Imran Khan's Release Amid Rising Tensions with India

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has demanded the immediate release of its incarcerated founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan, calling it essential for forging national consensus in response to India’s aggressive actions following the Pahalgam false flag operation.

Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly and senior PTI figure, Omar Ayub Khan, described India's move to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty as a "ticking time bomb" and an outright declaration of war against Pakistan.

In a post on social media platform X, he warned that every passing moment since India's suspension of the treaty adds to the danger facing Pakistan's sovereignty.

"Our government currently lacks direction. The integrity of our nation is at stake. Given the gravity of the situation, Imran Khan must be released," Ayub asserted.

Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Adviser on Information, Barrister Dr. Muhammad Ali Saif, condemned India's conduct following the Pahalgam incident, calling it "deeply regrettable and highly condemnable." He alleged that the incident was being used by the Modi administration as part of a wider conspiracy to level baseless accusations against Pakistan.

Dr. Saif accused the Indian government of destabilizing the region to pursue its own malicious agenda, stating, "The Modi regime seeks to undermine regional peace under the guise of the Pahalgam attack."

He stressed that the current circumstances demand national unity and political stability. "PTI remains the most popular political force in the country. Under Imran Khan’s leadership, the nation can be united. His release is essential for steering Pakistan through this critical period."

The provincial adviser also criticized the federal government, formed under what he called "Form 47-based fake mandate," arguing that true unity cannot be achieved under such circumstances. "The present time requires genuine public mandate and a legitimate leadership to navigate these national challenges," he concluded.
