PTI to Protest Outside Adiala Jail for Three Days on Eid-ul-Fitr

Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced plans to stage a protest outside Adiala Jail for three consecutive days during Eid-ul-Fitr, demanding relief for former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee and PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Junaid Akbar stated in a televised interview that party workers would gather outside Adiala Jail, where Imran Khan is currently imprisoned.

He further emphasized that if the government is serious about engaging in dialogue with the opposition, it must take the first step and demonstrate its commitment to negotiations.

Junaid Akbar acknowledged that there are some internal differences within the opposition alliance but maintained that efforts are underway to strengthen the coalition.

"We are receiving support from parties within the Tehreek Tahaffuz Aain Pakistan (TTAP) alliance and are now reaching out to political forces that are not part of the parliament," he said. "We have also contacted Jamaat-e-Islami’s leadership, and I am hopeful that the situation will improve."

While admitting to minor disagreements among parties, he asserted that such challenges would not disrupt the unity of the alliance.

He also hinted at the possibility of a larger protest movement, saying, "We will march towards Islamabad after Eid-ul-Fitr, but for now, we may hold demonstrations outside Adiala Jail for three days during Eid."

PTI has been making efforts to secure concessions for Imran Khan, including attempting to have him released on parole to attend a parliamentary committee meeting on national security, which was convened following the Jaffar Express incident. However, these efforts have been unsuccessful.

After failing to secure Khan’s release, PTI sought permission for party leaders to meet him in jail, but the government dismissed the request. In response, PTI has decided to boycott the committee meeting.
