Lahore: The Punjab government is set to transform its education system by incorporating technical education into public schools starting next academic year. This groundbreaking initiative aims to equip students with practical skills, enhancing their career prospects and preparing them for the demands of a dynamic job market.
Led by Khalid Nazir Wattoo, Secretary of the Punjab School Education Department, the project focuses on designing specialized textbooks tailored for technical education programs. School administrators have been instructed to monitor and report student enrollment in these programs at the middle and high school levels, ensuring the initiative's progress is closely tracked.
The newly introduced curriculum will cover a variety of fields, including agriculture, information technology, health sciences, and fashion design. This integration aims to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and real-world applications, fostering career readiness among students from an early age.
“Our objective is to empower students with the skills needed to thrive in professional environments and meet the requirements of an evolving job market,” Wattoo explained, highlighting the government’s long-term vision for the initiative.
This strategic move aligns public education with Punjab’s broader economic and developmental goals. By prioritizing technical education, the government hopes to increase employment opportunities for students and contribute to the province’s socioeconomic progress.
Education experts and stakeholders across Punjab have applauded the initiative, recognizing it as a critical step toward building a skilled and self-sufficient workforce.
