Qatari Prime Minister Warns Against Possible Attack on Iran’s Nuclear Facilities

Doha: Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani has warned that any potential attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities would lead to war and cause a "major environmental disaster."

In an interview with conservative media personality Tucker Carlson, who is known for his close ties to U.S. President Donald Trump, the Qatari Prime Minister responded to speculation that the U.S. Congress could soon approve airstrikes on Iran's nuclear sites.

Sheikh Mohammed acknowledged Qatar’s concerns over Iran’s nuclear program but expressed hope for a diplomatic solution. He cited a religious decree by Iran’s Supreme Leader, which prohibits the country from developing nuclear weapons.

"A military strike would only start a war, affecting the entire region," the Prime Minister cautioned. "It is natural that any country under attack would retaliate."

He further warned that such an attack could contaminate regional waters, impacting Qatar and other neighboring countries, leading to severe consequences and an environmental catastrophe.

"If Iran’s nuclear facilities are targeted, Iran will not limit its response to its own borders—it will affect the entire region," Sheikh Mohammed emphasized. "No one wants that. Qatar does not support military action. We hope for a diplomatic agreement between Iran and the United States."

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump has indicated a preference for negotiations with Iran. In an interview with Fox News, Trump stated that he had sent a letter to Iranian leaders on Thursday, expressing hope that they would agree to talks.

"I said that I hope you will be ready for negotiations because it would be much better for Iran," Trump remarked.
