Diriyah: Multimedia artist Quayola mesmerized audiences at the launch of Diriyah Art Futures (DAF), the first New Media Arts hub in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, with his groundbreaking audiovisual performance, Transient: Impermanent Paintings. Originally created in 2020, the performance explores the synergy between human creativity and technological innovation.

Part of DAF's inaugural exhibition,: Transient featured two motorized pianos accompanied by captivating video projections inspired by impressionist brushstrokes. These elements seamlessly merged in real-time, presenting a delicate interplay of artistic expression and generative algorithms. Renowned for his ability to merge natural and artificial spaces, Quayola collaborated with musician and technologist Seta to craft this one-of-a-kind experience. Employing complex algorithms, Transient redefined traditional concert experiences by blending improvisational music with dynamic generative visuals.

Diriyah Art Futures: A Hub for Innovation, Diriyah Art Futures aims to become a global center for New Media and Digital Art, hosting transformative experiences like Transient. The hub’s inaugural exhibition, Art Must Be Artificial: Perspectives of AI in the Visual Arts, will include workshops and performances through February 15, 2025. This weekend, November 29–30, DAF will offer masterclasses led by renowned artists featured in the exhibition. For additional details about upcoming events and programs, visit the official Diriyah Art Futures website.
