The death threat was made via phone by an inmate named Rinku, also called Ranwa, who is serving time for a POCSO case. Police acted immediately and arrested Rinku after tracing the call to Dausa jail. This raises big worries about how inmates can get phones inside prisons. Rajasthan's home minister Jawahar Singh Bedham said there might be some jail officers involved in this issue.
When police found out about the threat, they quickly caught Rinku and started looking into how he got the phone while in jail. Minister Bedham said that investigations are happening at high levels, with Inspector General Vikram Singh leading it all. The home minister mentioned that just one hour before this happened, prison officials checked the cells which makes it questionable if prison can keep out contraband like mobiles.
This isn't something new. Back in July 2024, CM Sharma had another death threat from Shyalawas Jail in Dausa too. That incident led to seven mobile phones being taken away, raising alarms on illegal smartphone use among prisoners. Afterward, officials did searches that found many more phones hidden around prison grounds. Ongoing probes will see if any staff helped with these threats or illegal acts.
