International Women's Day this year was celebrated by Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, who thanked the delegation of nine women ambassadors and high commissioners to the Khavda Adani Renewable Energy Park and Mundra Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in the state of Gujarat.
This was a special occasion to celebrate women's contributions in helping understand energy, industry, and economy all over India.
Ambassadors from Indonesia, Lithuania, Seychelles, Romania, and Luxembourg represented a roster of nationalities that were duly impressed by the scale and ingenuity of the renewable energy projects.
While the Green Movement stood for women leadership in these sectors, the ambassadors' compliments on local women's real engagement in propelling these large-scale projects were extremely apt.
Adani Green Energy's Khavda Renewable Energy Park is the largest clean energy park in the world with an area of 538 square kilometers, five times that of Paris.
The envoys also visited a state-of-art solar manufacturing facility at Mundra, which is a significant step towards India's quest for renewable energy independence.
Ambassadors and high commissioners alike talked about India's success in sustainable energy, many commenting on the truly incredible scale of renewable energy projects. Estonian ambassador Marje Luup particularly talked about how the utility of solar energy in India is something that is unimaginable for countries with much lesser sunshine, like Estonia.
The event provided Adani with a platform to put emphasis on the need for interaction between countries in promoting green energy technologies aimed at sustainable development on a worldwide basis.
