Peshawar: Internal discord within Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has resurfaced following controversial remarks made by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur during a social media interview.
Senior PTI leader and former provincial minister Atif Khan has raised concerns over the chief minister’s recent comments, joining Shahram Tarakai in demanding an investigation into the matter.
In a statement, Atif Khan said that while it is acceptable for the chief minister to have personal differences with him, targeting senior leaders like Asad Qaiser and Shakeel Khan is inappropriate. He emphasized that CM Gandapur should focus on governance and law and order in the province rather than weakening efforts for the release of PTI founder Imran Khan.
“If Imran Khan has indeed issued a statement against us, it must be verified,” Atif Khan stated, urging transparency within party ranks.
A day earlier, PTI MNA Shahram Tarakai had also called for a probe into the chief minister’s comments. He warned that such statements could harm the ongoing movement for Imran Khan’s release. Tarakai urged Gandapur to concentrate his energy on restoring peace and ensuring good governance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He also alleged that the chief minister had accused some party leaders of being involved in conspiracies.
