Mumbai: A rare behind-the-scenes moment from the sets of Devdas still lingers in Bollywood memory. During the early 2000s, amid growing tensions in his relationship with Aishwarya Rai, Salman Khan visited the set of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s grand period drama.
In front of the camera, he unexpectedly demonstrated a romantic scene with Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya — a moment involving Devdas removing a thorn from Paro’s foot. According to film critic Anupama Chopra’s book on Shah Rukh Khan, Salman gently performed the scene to show the emotion Bhansali sought.
The impromptu act was cinematic and symbolic—it was the last time Salman and Aishwarya appeared on a film set together. Their relationship soon ended, and they never worked together again. Devdas, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, and Madhuri Dixit, became a significant success, while this bittersweet incident quietly became part of its off-screen lore.
Salman and Shah Rukh, Bollywood giants for decades, were recently seen attending the premiere of Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par, reminding fans of their long and eventful journeys in Indian cinema.
