RIYADH: Saudi Arabia condemned an Israeli airstrike near the Presidential Palace in Damascus, calling it a blatant violation of Syria's sovereignty and a threat to regional stability.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly denounced the attack, reiterating the Kingdom's rejection of Israeli actions that undermine Syria’s security and stability.
The airstrike followed an Israeli warning to Syria regarding advancing toward Druze-inhabited villages in the south, after clashes between pro-government forces and Druze fighters near Damascus, resulting in casualties.
Syria’s presidency condemned the airstrike as a dangerous escalation against state institutions and sovereignty, urging global action to prevent such violations.
The Saudi foreign ministry echoed these concerns, urging the international community to address Israel’s violations of international law, stressing that continued Israeli actions could fuel violence and instability across the region.
