Riyadh: The Saudi Ministry of Health has issued a strong warning against the misuse of sick leave, emphasizing that issuing or using fraudulent medical reports is a serious offense. Offenders could face fines of up to SAR 100,000 ($26,666) and imprisonment for up to one year.

The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to digital health compliance, cautioning against unauthorized social media accounts that promote fake sick leave issuance, labeling them as illegal. Healthcare professionals were reminded of their ethical duty to issue sick leave only when medically necessary.

The official “Sehhaty” platform remains the only legitimate channel for obtaining sick leave in Saudi Arabia, ensuring accuracy and transparency. To combat fraud, the ministry has introduced a digital monitoring system that cross-checks sick leave requests with patients’ health records.

Residents and citizens are urged to stay alert and report any fraudulent sick leave services. The ministry reiterated its commitment to upholding healthcare integrity and enforcing strict regulations.
