Saudi Arabia Tops Global AI Index for Women's Empowerment in 2025

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has reached a significant milestone in artificial intelligence, according to the AI Index Report 2025 by Stanford University's Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI).

The Kingdom was recognized for its leadership in empowering women in AI, achieving the top global ranking based on the female-to-male ratio.

It also made notable progress in AI job growth, talent attraction, and developing advanced AI models.

The Stanford AI Index is a respected global reference for understanding AI trends, widely used by policymakers, researchers, and industry professionals.

Saudi Arabia’s first-place ranking in women’s empowerment in AI reflects the success of national initiatives aimed at increasing female participation and leadership in the technology sector.

This accomplishment aligns with Saudi Vision 2030, backed by training and development programs that have boosted female representation in AI.

The Kingdom also ranked third globally for AI job growth and fourth in the development of leading AI models.

It is one of seven countries, alongside the U.S., China, France, Canada, and Korea, that have published advanced AI models.

Saudi Arabia placed eighth for attracting AI talent, signaling its growing appeal as a hub for innovation and research in the field.

These achievements are part of Saudi Arabia’s strategic plan to become a global leader in AI, under the guidance of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA).

Through national initiatives, policy development, and promoting investment, SDAIA is positioning the Kingdom at the forefront of AI innovation.

The authority also works to enhance digital infrastructure and accelerate AI adoption across key sectors, in line with Vision 2030 goals.

SDAIA’s efforts in women’s empowerment include initiatives like the "Elevate" program, developed with Google Cloud, aimed at empowering over 25,000 women in technology and AI fields.
