RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has expressed support for the signing of a declaration of principles between the governments of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Rwanda.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs praised the diplomatic efforts of both countries and expressed hope that the declaration would strengthen security and stability.
According to the report, the kingdom’s anticipation of their continued commitment to the agreement.
The foreign ministers of Rwanda and the DRC signed the declaration at the US State Department on Friday.
Under the agreement, both nations pledged to work on drafting a peace deal by May 2, which would emphasize respect for each other’s sovereignty and refrain from supporting armed groups.
This development follows the resumption of fighting in the mineral-rich eastern region of the DRC in October.
