Saudi Architecture Initiative Aims to Create 34,000 Jobs

Riyadh: Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has unveiled the Saudi Architecture Characters Map, featuring 19 distinct styles inspired by the Kingdom’s diverse cultural and geographical heritage.

This initiative, aligned with Vision 2030, aims to enhance urban quality of life, modernize cityscapes, and position Saudi Arabia as a global architectural hub. It integrates traditional design with modern innovation while prioritizing sustainability.

By 2030, Saudi Architecture is expected to add SR8 billion to GDP and generate over 34,000 jobs in engineering, construction, and urban development. The phased rollout will start in key cities like Al Ahsa, Taif, Mecca, and Abha, initially focusing on major projects and government buildings.

The framework allows developers flexibility with traditional, transitional, and contemporary design typographies while ensuring cost efficiency. Partnerships with government agencies, engineering firms, and real estate developers will drive implementation through training and skill development programs.
