RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has thwarted an attempt to smuggle 17.6 kg of methamphetamine through the Empty Quarter border crossing.
During a routine inspection, ZATCA officers found the narcotics concealed inside a fuel tank of a vehicle being transported on a truck.
The authority coordinated with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control (GDNC), leading to the arrest of two suspects inside the Kingdom.
ZATCA reaffirmed its commitment to combat drug trafficking and called on the public to report smuggling attempts via its hotline (1910), email, or international number, with confidentiality assured and rewards offered for verified tips.
