Madrid, February 20, 2025 – Saudi Arabian football clubs are once again targeting Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr., with reports suggesting a €350 million bid is in the works potentially the largest transfer fee in football history.
According to Real Madrid Confidencial, Saudi Arabia remains determined to strengthen its football investments and sees the Brazilian forward as a marquee signing for the 2025 summer transfer window.
If finalized, the deal would surpass the current record €222 million transfer fee that took Neymar from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017. Among the clubs leading the race, Al-Ahli appear to be in the strongest position, with Al Hilal and Al Nassr Cristiano Ronaldo’s current club also expressing interest.
Al-Ahli have already secured top talents such as Riyad Mahrez, Roberto Firmino, and Gabri Veiga, and landing Vinicius would further solidify their ambitious project in Saudi football.
Despite the lucrative offer, Vinicius remains under contract with Real Madrid until 2027, having renewed his deal in October 2023. His €1 billion release clause serves as a major deterrent to potential suitors, reinforcing Madrid’s stance on keeping their star winger.
While the Saudi Pro League continues its aggressive pursuit of top European talent, Real Madrid’s position is clear: if Vinicius wants to stay, he stays. However, should he express interest in leaving, the club would be open to negotiations.
In response to the ongoing speculation, Real Madrid is reportedly working on further renewing Vinicius’ contract, aiming to secure his long-term future at the Santiago Bernabéu.
