Riyadh: Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met with Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun on Monday to discuss regional developments and ways to strengthen bilateral ties.
According to the source, an official reception ceremony was held at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh for Aoun, marking his first visit to the Kingdom as Lebanon’s head of state. Senior officials from both nations attended the meeting.
Aoun emphasized the significance of his visit, highlighting the deep-rooted relations between Saudi Arabia and Lebanon. He expressed gratitude for the Kingdom’s continued support in ensuring Lebanon’s stability, security, and institutional functions.
Following his Riyadh visit, Aoun and his delegation are set to travel to Cairo on Tuesday for the extraordinary Arab summit.
Aoun, Lebanon’s former army chief, was elected in January, ending a two-year presidential vacuum. The Lebanese people hope his leadership will address the country’s severe economic crisis and the aftermath of Hezbollah’s 14-month war with Israel, which left large parts of Lebanon devastated and resulted in over 4,000 deaths.
