Saudi Deputy FM: Peace, Two-State Solution Key to Middle East Security

CAIRO: Deputy Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Eng. Waleed Al-Khereiji affirmed that peace remains the strategic choice for the Middle East during his speech at the 163rd ministerial session of the Arab League Council in Cairo on Wednesday.

Al-Khereiji spoke on behalf of Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan.

He stressed that regional security can only be achieved through a fair and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, in line with international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative.

This includes the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Al-Khereiji reiterated Saudi Arabia's unwavering support for the Palestinian people and emphasized the need for maintaining a ceasefire in Gaza.

He called for Israel to be held accountable for violations of international law and crimes against Palestinians.

He also rejected any calls for the forced displacement of Palestinians or solutions that do not align with their legitimate aspirations.

The deputy minister highlighted Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts through the International Coalition to Implement the Two-State Solution and reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to Arab unity and regional security.

The meeting was also attended by Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Abdulaziz Al-Matar.
